Meeting Recap: June 11, 2009

Can anyone spell denial?

LE PREZ is still in denial about the inevitable. His reign will end even if he still states, adjacent to the 12:30 on the Agenda, “Welcome to the first NF Rotary Meeting”. I wonder if he e-mails exams to his students after the semester is complete. Ladies and gentlemen we could see an attempt at resistance to relinquish authority to our next leader, LOUIE the second. If the sign of his term is anything like his take on the meetings during the district conference, we are in DEEP DU DU. He was so confused. I don’t think a trip to England will help. Maybe L L 2 can catch a ride with the first lady and youngons
on their next shopping spree in London. LOUIE LOUIE will face the mike, at his level, starting July 2nd.

A test of your presence:
Match the name of who did what, with a straight line connecting the person with the action. It is ok if the lines cross, but it would be better if the line humps over the line it will cross.

  • Invocation
  • Flag Salute
  • Visiting Rotarians And Guests
  • Introduce the head table
  • LE PREZ
  • KEVIN OFLAZIAN
  • BOB KITTREDGE
  • RICK QUAN

Sunshine and Roses:
JULIE KEITGES will be going bananas in late October. Why you ask? She will be a Grandparent to a Granddaughter. DICK POWELL’s mother passed on after filling a loving void in this world for 97 years.

Does anyone stay at home anymore?
PETER SCHEER and BETTY ARNOLD were visiting the same country, Netherlands, at about the same time. P.S. brought back some wooden shoes that J. K. can put on her Granddaughter. B. A. presented LE PREZ with a working, also scaled down, wind mill. She inferred that if it was placed at some table, not defined, that the wind from that table could provide quite a bit of energy from the little mill. BERNADETTE HANSEN attended the College World Series this year and came back with a Jugs cap. I take it that this place is like Hooters. Naive I am. Then JAMES COLLIER gave LE PREZ The Finger and TERRY HUNTSMAN gave LE PREZ a means to figure which way to point The Finger. All in all, the presents were well suited for a soon to be dethroned emperor; the shoes for walking, a cap to shed the sun, the wind
mill for cooling off, a compass to keep on a straight path, and The Finger to give us.
Avancer, avancer, mon ami.

Being Uncogged:
JAMES COLLIER and TOM COLEMAN past the year mark and received their blue badges. Congratulations gentlemen.

Raffle:
PAUL CHEN was the winning loser but walked off with The Finger as a constellation prize.

Deferring Embarrassment
DEBORAH McHENRY allowed the losing team, GOLD, for this week, to pass on the hip action so our speaker could cover his topic with the necessary time allotment.

A last minute stand-in speaker:
PATTI O’ is as usual a very in touch person. When the scheduled speaker was unable to do so due to unfortunate circumstances, she pulled out her list of contacts and viola, Bruce Barnes and Joseph Oldham, with the city of Fresno, popped up. They presented a program that will start in August. Can anyone say Stimulus Package? This program will hand out grants to owners whose homes are in need of upgrading to become more energy efficient, thus saving energy then money. This program is for the residents of the City of Fresno only. People in county islands are out at this point. Joseph is trying
to work with the County who could reimburse for the audit and then hopefully entitle the islanders to some grant money. Bruce Barnes was nice to send me the power point presentation. I hope it is attached to this bully so you have the information necessary to make contact for an energy audit or more defined information if desired.
