IN THE BEGINNING….

No matter how much you push the envelope, it’ll still be stationery.

JAMES COLLIER marched around displaying the ‘Arm Band of power’ of the wandering mike. We were lead in prayer by SCOTT LOWE and in the pledge by CHARLIE WADHAMS. GENEVIE PUENTE introduced half of the Fig Garden Rotary Club as visiting Rotarians. They had a field trip to the FSU Library on Friday the 14th. There were many, many, many, guests present also.

 GOD CREATED FREEDOM OF WILL:

Two hats were hanging on a hat rack in the hallway. One hat said to the other, “You stay here, I’ll go on a head.”

PETER SCHEER traveled to Delaware DE and Philadelphia PA. He returned with a minute replica, Tinker Bell, of the Liberty Bell. He then proceeded to give us a synopsis of the history of the crack. No make-up was attempted, so thumbs down, he rang the big bell. DAVID KALEMKARIAN ventured to Indianapolis IN to watch his son’s Drum and Bugle Corps take the honors in the Nation Wide competition. Way to go, but no make-up, He rang the big bell.

ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE…….

I wondered why the baseball kept getting bigger. Then it hit me.

JANET POWELL pasted the exam to become a Risk Certified Trust Advisor. Way to go. I think she only had to ring the Tinker Bell.

 HE CREATED LIFE….

Time flies like an arrow. Fruit flies like a banana.

EMILY is growing wiser. Happy birthday to Emily, happy birthday to Emily, happy birthday dear Emily, happy birthday to you. Yes, Monday the 17th will be Emily’s birthday. She was presented with a cake with lighted candles. Rock Star was scribed on the cake.

 HE CAN HEAL ALL ……

The butcher backed into the meat grinder and got a little behind in his work.

BOB KITTREDGE is laid up after back surgery. He has his Good Bad and Ugly, days but all-n-all he is doing well. Send a card or give him a call.

 ALL THINGS COME FROM….

The soldier who survived mustard gas and pepper spray is now a seasoned veteran.

PAT BRADLEY and family bestowed a Paul Harris Fellow on Rick Lyons, a Hoover High coach and consummate supporter of fellowship and encouragement to our youth in sports activities. TED presented and PAT pinned.

 HE KNOWS YOUR INNER THOUGHTS…

I thought I saw an eye doctor on an Alaskan island, but it turned out to be an optical Aleutian.

MURRAY BARRY was the Rotarian of the week. He was paid to join Rotary by JOE DALE, Pop of JEFF and JERRY, and entered the group during DENNIS COOMBS’ reign of terror. MURR, that rhymes with cold, was born and raised in the Province of Ontario, Canada, which is located above the Great Lakes. His first job was at an A & P Market with the worst one being in construction. On the side, JOYCE DALE is the Mother of J & J. The monograms on the bath towels could have caused problems, if any of the family were color blind.

 ASK AND YOU SHALL RECEIVE…

A small boy swallowed some coins and was taken to a hospital. When his grandmother telephoned to ask how he was, a nurse said, “No change yet.”

CHIP PUTNAM says sell more tickets. JANET POWELL says we need more auction items. BERNADETTE HANSEN says we need more help to clean up Sunday morning. CHARLES SMALL says we almost have enough sponsors, but go for more. This all has to do with Storyland and Jazz.

 DO NOT TEMPT….

Two silk worms had a race. They ended up in a tie.

PLATO STERIOS won the raffle again. This time it was a $25 food ticket to the Outback Steakhouse. Eat well my man.

ALL THOSE WHO RULE SHOULD SERVE…

In a democracy, it’s your vote that counts. In feudalism, it’s your count that votes.

PATTI O’ introduced Bill Jones as a “successful businessman, past California Secretary of State, past State Legislator, rancher and familyman.” His term in the service to our State covered four Presidents and four Governors.

Bill was born and raised in Coalinga and received a Bachelor’s Degree in agribusiness and plant sciences from CSUF in 1971. He is married and has two children and four grandchildren.

Bill is the founder and Chairman of the Board of Pacific Ethanol. He is a principal in Tri-J Land & Cattle which is a diversified farming and cattle company. In 2005, he was appointed to the CA Bay Delta Authority by Arnold S. Since Sept. of 2007 he has been on the CA Chamber of Commerce Board. When elected to the position of California Secretary of State in 1994, he became the first Central Valley resident to fill a statewide constitutional office in over a century.

He has been instrumental in many reforms to voting procedures; improvements in international trade for California; authored the “Three Strikes” law, and has chaired or been a member of many a committee or board in Fresno County and the State. It has been stated that Bill has “compiled a distinguished record of achievement and an unparalleled reputation for honesty and integrity.”

THE BLIND LEADING….

A hole has been found in the nudist camp wall. The police are looking into it.

Bill Jones main statement is that the problem with California is the acting elements of our government. They are unable to see the problems through the side issues. If you continue to fight over a fish, an owl, a fairy shrimp, a bush, the true reason and needs will never be exposed or met. The facts are we need water and oil for California to grow. Without growth we will stagnate and die. It takes money to develop water storage and to build new refineries. Some acting elements of our government refused to see the need for growth, due to self interests or ignorance. It is time to get the rope-a-dope out of the ring and the sparing partners. Ethanol is not the solution but it is an excellent filler, if the field of battle with oil companies is leveled. It is 60% cheaper to produce and 70% greener than petroleum. Ethanol currently makes up 10% to 15% of the energy nationwide. It takes time and money to build a complete service system. The closest ethanol station is in Tulare. Sacramento is the next. Bill believes that reapportionment to balance the voting populace is the main issue, to stop the one sided deterrent to growth. California must grow and develop is economy to maintain what is currently in place. A strong leadership is vital with water and power as the focal points to resolve, not a fish that lives for one year to feed a fish that has no idea where to swim upstream to procreate anymore. Most of the salmon I eat is farm grown. That is a side issue. It can be resolved if the acting elements of our government focus on the vital needs of water and energy. Tree huggers are necessary as is the ACLU, but they cannot be the driving force for decision making procedures for the future of California.

A sign on the lawn at a drug rehab center said, “Keep off the Grass.”

 Good night and God bless
