With PP Bill McGlasson’s reading of the Christmas Story out of the book of Luke and prayer from the book of Nehemiah, our December 17 Christmas party began. Scott Lowe led us in honoring our flag and Bob Kittredge (great to see you back!) welcomed visiting Rotarians and guests. Many of our guests included spouses and family members. Travelers included Deborah McHenry and her arduous trip to Peru while hiking up the Inca Trail; future Prez Janet Powell and her wine tasting up in Mendocino; and Patti O’Neill and her time in Mexico. PP Roger Anderson thanked all those who helped with the “Bell Ringing” for the Salvation Army and Julie Keitges and PP Don Henderson thanked those who attended the Lowell Christmas party and Mentor Luncheon Attendees. PDG Ken Boyd gave a special presentation: the RI Foundation Major Donor Award to our PDG Ted Marsella and his wife Janice. Thank you Ted for your great generosity. Congrats to Kristine Ballecer for graduating from the COG group. Julie Keitges announced that there was an opportunity for us to buy “stocking stuffers”—new dictionaries for three dollars. Please let her know if you are interested.
Sean Borchardt informed us that the highly successful dinner groups would be forming again soon. He is taking sign ups now for the next couple of weeks. The format would be: groups of four couples; “round robin” rotation of hosting, occurring once a month. There is great creative latitude on how the various folks may host the event. PP Don Henderson, in fulfilling his leadership as recent past president, announced our new President elect-elect: John Krikorian. Congratulations! John was respectfully described as “a good guy, good father, good husband, good Rotarian, a pilot who helps fly people including doctors) to our medical/dental clinic in Ocoroni, Mexico, and devout Christian. “ We look forward to his leadership as President in the future.
Our “speaker of the day” was a time of singing, led by Rhonda—whose beautiful voice we had heard at previous meetings. Besides the listening of favorite Christimas standards, we also had an opportunity to divide our luncheon groups by table, and sing “The Twelve Days of Christmas” including acting out—at times in a most goofy/comedic manner—the various days of the song. Special thanks to Terry Huntsman and his team for hosting our annual event.

I think an important correction is that Bill McGlassson did not read the Story of Christmas. He recited the entire piece from memory, which really impresses me. Also, Rhonda’s last name is Grove and she works at Guarantee Realty. Merry Christmas. Pat
