NO BIZ TALK

TRAVELING “Sleepless in Seattle” ED KACZMAREK cruised to the NW and picked up a bell at a garage sale. PREZ JANET was pleased to add to her collection. Her lectern is getting crowded.
RAFFLE; OK, what are the odds? Answer: According to PAT BRADLEY 6000 to 1. He should know. The winning ticket and the Wheel of Fortune #1 slot. He won the entire pot. $40 WOW!
PROGRAM: Today’s speaker Dr. Ken Friesen was introduced by DR. MURRAY BARRY.
Dr. Friesen is a professor of History and International Relations at Fresno Pacific University. His topic today, “Will the Real India, please stand up”.
Some interesting facts from the presentation:
-India has a population of 1.2B people. It is the world’s largest democracy.
-It is multi-religious and very diverse.
-Economic growth 8%
-Poverty 25% ($2/day to live on)
-A country of contrasts (modern building and high tech businesses next to bleak poverty)
So what will happen to India in the future?
What will be its relationship with the US?
What will be its relationship with its Asian neighbors Pakistan and China?
Final Questions:
China vs. India-rivals with huge populations India and the UN (will it finally get a permanent seat at the table?) a military power? an economic power?
Question and Answer followed.
Meeting adjourned.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
Your Cog reporter, PAUL DYER
