I have 33 years of experience in the fields of nonprofit management, revitalzation and economic development. I have looked at locally-focused economic development and revitalzation through a wide variety of perspectives: elected official, historic building owner and property manager, planning consultant, nonprofit CEO, statewide revitalization board president, student, professor, resident, restaurant owner, city department director and many others.  The thread that ties all of these experiences together is my desire to learn, to commit my life to the improvement of the communities where I has lived and worked, and to share my knowledge and experience with others.

I was recently the Interim CEO for the Downtown Fresno Partnership where I coordinated the $22 million Fulton Street renovation between the City of Fresno, Amercian Paving, property owners and businesses. I also led walking tours of the construction project for community groups and for the general public. I taught Urban Entrepreneurship at Fresno State for 14 years and have a Fellowship with the Coleman Foundation and have been recognized by the National Institute for Teaching Entrepreneurship.  I also created and led the Fresno Downtown Academy (International Downtown Association Award) which is now in its 6th cohort.  I am also a professional blogger for FresYes.com (22,000 readers).

My home is a 1925 bungalow in downtown Fresno’s Lowell neighborhood.  I enjoy gardening and have a 100% edible landscape.  My son Cole and daughter in law Amanda live in Fresno and I am actively involved with my grandsons, Clark and Emmett. I am 57 years old, and follow a healthy plant-based diet and walk and run in historic Kearney Park. I also enjoy cooking, reading, writing, hiking, camping and fly-fishing.
