President 2016

Service Year
2016 to 2017

For over 23 years, the North Fresno Rotary club has been a source of friendship, enlightenment, and inspiration to me.  Founded in 1948, and with nearly 100 members today, the club has introduced me to a vast array of professionals.  Weekly, we meet for lunch and speaker programs which spawn thoughtful conversations, challenging projects, and hearty laughter.

Our Rotary mantra of "Service Above Self" enlightens our collective world view and our approach to solving community and world problems.  During my tenure as a member of this club, Rotary International has led the fight to eradicate Polio from the planet.  For more than a decade, a steady focused effort by Rotary and its worldwide partners has brought us to the brink of success...last year only 6 cases of polio occurred.

Locally we try to make a difference at schools like Lowell, Cooper and Fresno High.  With other Rotary clubs we reach out to Mexico, Guatemala, West Africa and Armenia to offer support for education, clean water, and other basic needs.  In Fresno, we hand out dictionaries to 4th graders, help the Association of Retarded Citizens with their bowling tournament, and equip veterans with tools for physical rehabilitation.  Project after project, big and small, Rotarians serve humanity.

Our 31st Pancake Breakfast will take place on July 9, 2016 at the Elbow Room in Fig Garden Village.  Plan to get your heart rate up with our FIg Run.  Fill your stomach with our famous pancakes.  And shop 'til you drop at the big sidewalk sale by the merchants of Fig Garden Village.  Run, Eat, Shop.....a triathlon you don't want to miss!

Yours in Rotary Service,   Paul
